Hi, I’m Anna.
I’ve spent more than twenty years collecting, sourcing, selling, and living with things that have a story to tell.
I founded MoModerne in 2002, starting as a small online vintage business and eventually growing into a retail shop and one of St. Louis’s most recognized estate sale companies. What began as a love of design, history, and shopping became a career helping people create homes, navigate transitions, and find new life for the things they leave behind.
Today, I own Moderne Archive, a shop inside City Foundry STL devoted to vintage and contemporary design. I love mixing eras, styles, and materials and pairing the unexpected and creating spaces that feel collected rather than decorated. The shop is filled with furniture, art, lighting, and objects chosen for their character, craftsmanship, and ability to make a space feel personal.
I also hold a degree in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, which turns out to be useful when your work involves helping families sort through a lifetime of belongings, navigate major transitions, and occasionally decide the fate of a very controversial dining room set.
Over the years, I’ve learned that homes are rarely just about the objects in them. They’re about the people who lived there, the stories attached to the objects, and the memories they hold. Whether I’m helping a family settle an estate, assisting a client through a move, sourcing inventory for the shop, or helping someone find the perfect piece, my goal is always the same: to make the process feel thoughtful, approachable, and a little less overwhelming.
Moderne Archive is where all of those interests come together through design, history, storytelling, and helping people through change. I’m grateful every day that this work allows me to be part of so many homes, collections, and stories.
I still get excited about the hunt. Nothing beats discovering an incredible piece, finding it the right home, and knowing its story gets to continue.
